Governor of Ogun state, Ibikunle Amosun is engulfed in fresh political tension.

And this recent development is said to have roots in the administration of Local Governments in his terrain.

Sources divulged that the Ogun state helms man is set to take over administration of the local councils for a prolonged spell after the expiration of the tenure of the Chairmen – and attendant elected and officials- on Thursday July 23.

The move is explained as party of means of saving up funds for the administration of the state.

The Ogun state front man has been involved in different antics to free up his administrations cost including refusal to appoint commissioners and related state officials in order to avoid inherent huge wage bills.

The Governor is said to working towards employing the same ploy once the term of the Local Government chairmen ends.

According to a source ‘what is creating tension is that there is information that the Governor would ask the heads of the local government service to take up over the post of the chairmen after July 23 and would go on to delay the appointment of replacement for as long as possible all in the name of control and money’

The heads of local government service in each of the local government are defined as the most senior career officers and would be assuming the function of the Chairmen at no additional cost to the state ( they are would maintain their salary scale), their gain would be inherent opportunities in the positions.

The party leaders and others the move does not favour are said to have started a vigorous campaign against Amosun’s ploy.

‘Already there is a lot of disquiet against the governor regarding his style of governance, especially after he got reelected…he has frozen out virtually all those who tirelessly campaigned for him but for a few individuals in the running of the state…this move would further put the state in his vice grip’ an insider divulged.

More revelations have it that the governor intends to achieve his aim by dangling the offer of additional positions to be filled with creation of Local Government Development areas.
