Gov Makinde Builds Model Schools After Heavy Campaign Against It – Promise Of Well Thought Out Alternative – During Election

Governor of Oyo state Seyi Makinde has embraced a concept he heavily criticized during his election campaign.

Makinde while campaigning to become the Governor of Oyo state heavily criticized the model school concept initiated by immediate past Governor Abiola Ajimobi.

‘’It magnifies the obvious failure of the present administration’’ Makinde asserted against Ajimobi and further garnished his claim with ‘’It is a pointer to the systemic failure to stem the uncontrolled free fall in the sector in terms of infrastructural decline, inadequate staffing and learning materials and motivation of both staff and pupils’’

Makinde promised a better option if elected Governor telling voters ‘’ Our well thought out alternative plans will be in the public domain very soon’’.

But four months after he became Governor Makinde has embraced the very concept he criticized.

The governor has given the go-ahead for the construction of five model schools across three senatorial districts.

Makinde – without any apology for misrepresentation made against Ajimobi – declared in communication by the chairman of Oyo state Basic Education Board (OyoSUBEB) Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran that this move is in line with the 2018 intervention project in conjunction with the Federal Government- Universal Basic Education Board.

‘’He knows better know that he is in the driver’s seat’’ is how Makinde’s supporters explain the inability of the governor to introduce his ‘’ much thought out alternative plans’’ while opting for what he heavily criticized his predecessor for.
