“Gov Diri Is Running A Winning Race” – Obasanjo Campaigns For PDP Candidate In Bayelsa Guber

Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has inaugurated the Igeibiri-Angiama section of the Yenagoa-Oporoma-Ukubie road.
The road is 10.75 kilometer, which include a 150 metres Aguobiri bridge executed by Governor Douye Diri-led administration.
Speaking at the project commissioning, Chief Obasanjo acknowledged Governor Diri’s developmental strides in a difficult terrain like Bayelsa State. He equally advised the people of the state not to change a performing governor.
“Bayelsa State is a very difficult environment to embark project. Because all you will see is water. I heard there was a governor who thought it was impossible to do this project. What he thought was impossible, former governor Dickson started it, and present Governor Douye Diri is continuing it. Government is all about continuity. And you must not say it’s difficult or impossible.
As I get older, I refrain from getting involved in political statements. But what must be said must be said. If you have winning horse in a race, you don’t have to change it. Governor Diri is running a winning race. Dear Bayelsans, when a man is doing what is right, give him the opportunity to continue to do what is right.” Obasanjo stated
In his remark, Governor Douye Diri said the history of the road is as old as 60 years.
“For 60 years, this road has been talked about but no action. Not until former President Goodluck Jonathan crossed the Ekoli bridge. And after him, the man who took over abandoned this road. Today, I hear him saying to construct road in our area is very difficult and that was why he was unable to construct road to his own village, Okpoama. The immediate past governor took the road from where Jonathan stopped and brought it down to Igeibiri.
Today, we are happy that we have completed this section of the road from Igeibiri to Angiama. This is the benefit of having continuity in governance. We are equally constructing the bridge linking to Oporoma, headquarters of Southern Ijaw LGA”, Gov. Diri stated.

Fred Agbedi, Hon. Mitema Obordor, Hon. Oforji Oboku, Hon. Rodney Ambaiowei, Speaker of Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, Secretary to the State Government, Alabo Gideon Ekeuwei, PDP State Chairman, Hon. Solomon Agwana and other top government functionaries
