Nigeria’s iconic brand, Golden Penny, is leveraging the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), holding in Cameroon to bring together its consumers as they share in the joy of the competition while also enjoying the nutritional benefits of its various products.

During the four-week tournament, consumers will be rewarded with N5,000 worth of airtime after answering questions on their favourite team, the Nigerian super eagles, while also enjoying their favourite meal – Golden Penny Pasta – in their own way and bringing families together at the dining table with smiles during the season.

The AFCON is the biggest football event on the continent in which 24 teams across the continent compete and display their soccer artistry.

Speaking on Golden Penny’s involvement in the AFCON competition, Bisi Idowu, Marketing Director Foods, said Golden Penny is leveraging the 2022 tournament to connect with their target audience, many of whom are football lovers and reinforce its brand values.

“The brand sees this as an important opportunity to leverage the strength of viewership, help the target audience stay updated on the event and also remind its consumers of the functional & emotional benefits of Golden Penny Pasta to them,” he said.

Golden Penny Foods, through its various iconic brands of flour, pasta, semolina, sugar, oil, spreads, and breakfast cereals, has in the last 60 years continued in its devotion to feeding the nation.

The Golden Penny Pasta, made from the finest quality Durum wheat which makes it high in fibre and rich in protein, has become Nigeria’s no. 1 pasta.

The Pasta is also fortified with vitamin A, a major nutrient that helps the heart, lungs, kidneys, and other organs work properly, and supplies the body with adequate vitality to get through the day.

Golden Penny’s Ball foods category also needs no introduction from its nutritious Semovita, fortified with vitamins and proteins and rich in fibre to aid digestion to the Masavita, a wholesome maize grits meal that guarantees all-day energy.

It recently introduced its premium soya oil which is ‘100% Nigerian Soyabean’ in a new 75ml sachet. The soya oil is in Omega 3 and Omega 6 which helps promote good skin and vision.
