The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed has once again demonstrated his passion for excellence and professionalism in road safety management.

This is evident in the recent commencement of this year’s foreign courses on Strategic Road Safety Management for staff of the Corps.

The training programme, which is being conducted and funded by the Government of India under the Indian Technical Education Cooperation (ITEL), is designed to equip the participants with cutting-edge knowledge and skills in strategic road safety management.

The programme covers critical areas such as road safety policy and strategy, traffic management, road safety administration, artificial intelligence and data-driven decision making.

The Corps Marshal’s decision to send staff on this foreign training programme is a clear indication of his determination to ensure that FRSC remains at the forefront of road safety management in Nigeria. This move is also in line with the Corps’ strategic goal of reducing road crashes and fatalities in Nigeria which is in tandem with Corps Marshal’s policy thrust.

According to the Corps Marshal, ” FRSC is committed to achieving excellence in road safety management, and this foreign training programme is a critical step towards achieving this goal. We are confident that our staff will acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to drive our road safety initiatives forward.”

The first batch of the training which is in two phases and comprised of 5 personnel drawn from the National Headquarters and field Commands will commence from 17th through to 28th March, 2025. While the second phase kicks off immediately from 30th of March to 11 April, 2025 all in India.

You would recall that FRSC under Shehu Mohammed has continually demonstrated unrivalled dedication to professionalism and excellence in road safety management.

Through his policy thrust on welfare, training and retraining of staff to align with realistic expectations, as well as strategic partnership, the Corps Marshal has successfully approbated the harmonisation of ranks for about 1400 staff and also ratified the training of over 3000 personnel in diverse fields.

This foreign training programme is just one of the many initiatives the Corps has lined up to enhance the capacity of its staff and improve its service delivery.
