First Lady, Dame Patience’s Preferred Rivers Guber Aspirant, Nyesom Wike In Trouble!

…As opposition within & outside PDP reach street alliance against ex minister

Practise of the saying ‘the enemy of my enemy – is my friend’ is currently at work on the streets of Rivers state.

Opposition of former minister, Nyesom Wike within his party,People’s Democratic Party and out of it are working towards same objective – scuttling his gubernatorial aspiration.

The Minister is the favoured choice of Dame Patience, wife of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan to become the PDP candidate – and wrest power from the incumbent regime of rival party, All Progress Congress.

Outgoing governor Rotimi Amaechi opted out of the PDP based on allegedly resisting interference from Dame Patience in Rivers state government matters, that soured his relationship with the Presidency.

The same allegation has created major enemies for Wike’s gubernatorial agenda within his party.

Fellow contenders within the PDP have started a street war to scuttle his ambition.

The aspirants who have publicly called out the First Lady to hands off the party affairs have charged followers to synthesis electorates of what is called ‘the danger of allowing Wike to win’.

Information made available to societynowng.com revealed outside of assertions his gubernatorial interest flouts agreed rotation of power amongst ethnic group in state, his chief qualification for Dame Patience’s support is listed as ‘obedience’ to the first lady.

‘The danger in this circumstance is unfathomable. A governor with his control strings tied to the wife of the President?..I don’t even know where to begin to point out all the ramifications for the man in the face of prosperity and the social, political and economic advancement of the state!’

Trending information revealed after behind the scenes attempts failed to avert the looming occurrence, major stake holders in the politics of the state and fellow guber aspirants forced the matter into the open by
boycotting recently held local government and ward congresses in the state.

And the reason given for this very simple – Wike and meddling in party affairs by attempting to force him on them by the President’s wife.

The action was taken by key players in the affairs of the state that goes beyond politics.

Some of them are Prince Tonye Princewill, Dumo Lulu-Briggs, Becks Dagogo Jack, Gabriel Pidomsom, Senator Lee Maeba and Dr Silva Opusunju.

Also included are Prof Dan Baridam, Samson Ngerebara, Paweriso Samuel Horsfall, Nimi Wilson Jack, Major Lancelot Ayanya.

With this action comes groundswell opposition against Wike’s ambition, particularly on the street with the theme of ‘ First Lady’s banner man’ as puncher.

Dangerously for him, this new movement complements ‘unfit’ to rule and ‘untrustworthy’ for political office, ongoing massive campaign against him by the pro amaechi votes canvassers in the state.

Just a couple of days before the PDP aspirants and powerful Rivers players distance themselves from him, Tamunoiyoriari Parker- the state commissioner for health – went to town with damning allegations against the ex minister

‘I know Nyesom Wike very well. We are both products of the Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi political family

‘ Nyesom wike has properties in Port Harcourt valued at over N5,000,000,000 ( five billion naira )

‘Wike’s private residence in Asokoro, Abuja, is said to be worth at least ₦1,000,000,000.00 (One billion naira). How did the minister of state for education acquire that kind of property?


‘Lois XIII, said to be Wike’s favourite strong drink, costs from $13,000 per bottle

‘How can a man who has never managed a private company in his life afford tens of cars which he doles out to his supporters? Did he sponsor some of his supporters to the world cup in Brazil with his salary as Minister’

Wike was who was reportedly nominated for national office by governor Rotimi Amaechi- when he was a protege of the Rivers helmsman, now leads the president’s wife charge against Governor Amaechi in Rivers state.

The latest twist against him from within his party just further ‘drives the knife home’.

‘the problem Wike faces is very grave. He is being buffeted by opposing forces both within and outside of his party, even if he gets presidential support to snatch the PDP ticket, will the angry aspirants stomach the insult and allow him to win?…will they allow him to win and prove they have limited electoral value?’

Already sources confirmed these happenstances have resulted in unflattering conjectures and speculations about his chances, before and after the pdp primaries on the streets.
