FG Refutes Claims Of Lopsidedness In Appointments, Affirms Commitment To Fair Representation
selections are made in full compliance with the constitutionally enshrined principle
The Federal Government has dismissed recent allegations suggesting bias in the composition of federal appointments, insisting that all selections are made in full compliance with the constitutionally enshrined principle of federal character.
In a statement issued by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), the government condemned the insinuations, particularly those circulating on social media, describing them as misleading and unfounded.
“The Government categorically refutes claims of lopsidedness and emphasizes its unwavering commitment to the principles of fairness, equity, and national unity. All appointments are made in strict adherence to the federal character principle, as enshrined in Section 14 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as Altered),” the statement read.
Highlighting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s firm belief in national cohesion, the OSGF stressed that the President is guided by fairness and justice in all decisions, especially as they relate to appointments across the country.
“This Administration is dedicated to ensuring that all regions and demographics of the country are adequately represented in its institutions and agencies,” the statement added.
The OSGF also urged the public to disregard what it described as “unfounded speculations” and to rely solely on official government channels for accurate and verified information.
“The Government remains steadfast in its pursuit of a prosperous, united and equitable Nigeria, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of this Administration. Pokers of embers of hate and disunity who carry tendentious and unfounded allegations should never be taken seriously by Nigerians,” the statement emphasized.
Citizens seeking clarification on federal appointments are encouraged to direct their inquiries to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, which serves as the official custodian of such records.
