FG Reaffirms Commitment To Modernise Armed Forces At NADCEL 2026 Grand Finale

The Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, on Monday, 6 July 2026, represented the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at the Grand Finale of the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2026 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Upon his arrival at the venue, the Vice President was received by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu accompanied by Principal Staff Officers from Defence and services Headquarters as well as Field commanders of various Defence and Army Operations.

At the ceremony, the Vice President conveyed President Tinubu’s commendation to the Nigerian Army for its unwavering commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and supporting peace operations across Africa.

He also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to the continuous modernisation of the Armed Forces through investments in emerging technologies, modern military platforms, and enhanced capacity building to strengthen operational effectiveness and combat readiness against evolving security threats.
