Federal Fire Stages Search And Rescue Tactical Fire Drill
at the United Nations Nigeria facility.
In a bid to strengthen the protection of safety-critical assets across the nation, the Federal Fire Service conducted a Search and Rescue / Tactical Fire Drill at the United Nations Nigeria facility.
The exercise was carried out in collaboration with the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) as part of ongoing efforts to enhance emergency preparedness and reinforce coordinated response mechanisms within critical national and international facilities.
The operation involved CSF Adediran Adekanmi of the Federal Fire Service and Major Muhammed Isa (Rtd.) of the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS), who worked jointly to ensure effective coordination between firefighting personnel and the facility’s security management structure.
The Search and Rescue / Tactical Fire Drill was coordinated by CSF Manu Sunday, who supervised the operational planning and execution of the exercise. The simulation focused on strengthening emergency preparedness through practical demonstrations of rapid response, search and rescue operations, evacuation procedures, and effective collaboration between firefighters and security teams within the facility.
As part of the exercise, staff of the United Nations Nigeria were sensitized and educated on essential fire safety measures, including emergency evacuation procedures and appropriate response actions during fire incidents. The session also emphasized the importance of fire prevention, early reporting of fire outbreaks, and the proper use of firefighting equipment in the workplace.
The exercise further underscored the commitment of the Federal Fire Service, under the leadership of the Controller General, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, to strengthening emergency preparedness and safeguarding lives, property, and critical national and international assets through proactive training and strategic collaboration. This effort also aligns with the policy direction of the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government, which prioritizes the protection of lives, infrastructure, and national assets through improved emergency management and institutional preparedness.
