The Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, has responded to public reactions trailing a viral video from his recent homecoming in Kabba, Kogi State, clarifying that the convoy linked to him was not as extensive as widely perceived.

Speaking through an official statement, the Fire Service boss explained that “for the avoidance of doubt, the Controller General travelled with only his official vehicle, a pilot vehicle, and essential security support,” stressing that the additional vehicles seen in the footage belonged to other senior officers who attended the event.

According to him, “the vehicles were those of Deputy Controllers General (DCGs), Assistant Controllers General (ACGs), and other senior officers of the Service who were present as part of the management team,” adding that their attendance was “deliberate, ensuring adequate coordination and security coverage for all senior officers at the high-profile gathering.”

The clarification comes amid public scrutiny following the circulation of a video showing what appeared to be a lengthy convoy during his reception in Kabba on April 3, 2026.
Despite the controversy, Adeyemi expressed deep appreciation to the Bunu Progressive Forum for organising what he described as an elaborate and memorable homecoming ceremony in his honour.

He noted that the event was not only to celebrate his appointment but also to show gratitude to Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting him with the leadership of the Service.

“The reception was a strong demonstration of unity, support, and shared commitment to national development and public safety,” he said.

He also acknowledged the presence of top dignitaries, including the Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, who was represented by his deputy, Joel Salifu Oyibo.

Adeyemi further paid tribute to the Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi, for his “royal blessings and fatherly support,” as well as other traditional rulers whose presence, he said, “added great prestige and cultural significance to the occasion.”

He also recognised the attendance of APC chieftain Durosinmi Meseko and several eminent personalities from across the state.

Reiterating the Service’s commitment to accountability, the Controller General assured Nigerians that “its operations and official movements are always guided by necessity, safety considerations, and best practices,” emphasizing that transparency and professionalism remain central to its mandate.

He concluded by once again thanking the Kabba community and the Bunu Progressive Forum for the warm reception, describing the honour as both humbling and motivating.
