On saturday September 01 2012- former National Security Adviser- Owoeye Azazi staged a wondrous wedding for his son, Pelede.

Pelede wedded his sweet heart- Solape Olayele at the Church of Assumption, Falomo- Ikoyi. The wedding reception was staged at Giwa Barracks, a couple of minutes walk from the church.

Sources at the church arm of the ceremony claimed it paraded an intimidating list of guests and intimidating presence of security operatives both in and out of uniform.

And in the bid to accommodate the free movement the invitees were used to- sources at the event claimed ‘ agents acting on behalf of the former security chief closed down a major lagos road’ Owoeye Azazi\’s Son & wife The passage in question is the link road among Alfred Rewane, Falomo and Bourdilon (under the bridge).

It was shut from those attempting to link Awolowo road from Alfred Rewane road and Bourdilon under the bridge. Those descending from the from the Akin Adesola to Alfred Rewane bridge attempting to link Awolowo road suffered the same fate.

Though a portion of the blocked passage was later intermittently opened for road users after an hour of total blockade- the Alfred Rewane to Awolowo road axis remained shut through out the church ceremony.

While road users groaned outside over traffic build up- celebrity photographers suffered their dose of disappointment inside.

They were barred from taking pictures inside the church hall.

According to a source, the arrangement was such that attempts were made to totally eject all journalists from the church premises by plain clothes security men ( that arrived the place with the groom).

But the former security chief fearing a media backlash was spotted informing the man acting as head of the security detail to ‘leave the journalists alone’

This did not stop the security personnel from forbiding the media men from getting into the ‘church proper’

The couple and their family and fans later posed for the media after the whole session.

However it wasn’t all harmony with the security agents.

They had a fallout and a show of shame that provided ‘light entertainment’ for the media and other onlookers barred from the main event.

Chief of Defence staff Oluseyi Petirin arrived the hall- and an army captain, working in concert with Azazi’s security personnel directed his driver to park at a pointed spot.

This was after Petirin had alighted and made it into the hall.

But a Private in combat gear and on Petirin’s entourage told him otherwise and ordered the driver to park in another spot!

The captain’s colleagues and other military personnel at the event took the disobedience as a great afront- and a big row ensued.

The row lasted about ten minutes before a plain clothes individual and obviously a senior officer stepped in and the matter adjudged in the captain’s favour.

‘No respect among military men again’ was the theme of the discussion many feasted on pertaining to the show of shame all through the event.

Among those that attended the church ceremony where Gov Emmanuel Uduaghan, Bank M.D- Reginald Ihejiahi, Former bank boss, Akinsola Akinfemiwa, Senator Sanusi Daggash, Raymond Dokpesi, Grace Egbagbe, Kingsley Kuku, Victor and Funke Osibodu, Tunde Ayeni, Soni Irabor, Ephraim Faloughi and others.
