…how he stole the show at grand reception for finance minister, Okonjo Iweala

Barely 24hours after he was arrested and released by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( E.F.C.C)- for complicity in a N750m fraud- former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Charles Soludo was spotlighted on the party scene.

He was a guest at a grand reception held for Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala.

The event was hosted by the Lagos chapter of Ndigbo at the Oriental Hotel,Victoria Island.

Scheduled to begin at 6pm, it started off around 7pm when Minister Iweala arrived on Friday January 11 2012.

Soludo was arrested and released after hours of interrogation by the E.F.C.C for complicity in an alleged N720m fraud on Thursday January 10 2012.

Investigation into allegations of involvement in the Australian polymer banknotes bribery scandal that necessitated his arrest is still on.

According to information made available to societynowng.com, under investigation Soludo ‘ arrived the event in the company of Deputy governor of CBN, Kingsley Moghalu. He wore a white native attire with a red cap. His arrival midway into the event caused a bit of stir at the ballroom venue. He didn’t immediately go sit down, but moved round to greet other seated guests’

According to another source ‘it was obvious he attended the event with intent to dispel speculations of continuous detention…to show he’s still got his clout sort off.. He spent virtually all time at the place conferring with this and that person’

Societynowng.com confirmed Soludo stayed till the event ended around 11.00p.m.

Other guests at the occasion were Gov Peter Obi of Anambra State, Alex Otti of Diamond Bank, MD of Fidelity bank, Chike Ogeah, the representative of Delta State governor, Chief Martins Agbaso, Stella Okoli, Mazi Sam Ohabunwa, Chief Raymon Obieri, Peter Okocha and Chief Pascal Dozie.

Soludo was reportedly given the bail that enabled him avoid detention (by the E.F.C.C) after fulfilling conditions that ‘he drops his diplomatic passport and produce two sureties who must be senior federal civil servants not below the level of permanent secretaries or directors’.
