“Every time some idiots make (sic) a video, the government must respond… I don’t get it really” Governor of Oyo State Seyi Makinde declared in response to the posting of an alleged video recording of criminals masquerading as Fulani herdsmen on the people of Ayete, Ibarapa North Local Government.

The Video was posted by Akeem Olatunji, the Publicity Secretary of Makinde’s party, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on a platform he created for party chieftains.

Olatunji posted the Video in the forum that had Makinde as a member with the message “This video has gone viral but the authority needs to confirm the claim. It’s very urgent to address the message…”

The Governor, however, responded with the retort “Every time some idiots make a video, the government must respond… I don’t get it really… you need mature people to make meaningful contributions on your platform.”

He quitted the group after his response.

The development instantly became a talk of the town with different interpretations and conjectures including claims the Governor may be on his way out of the party.

But officially reacting to the Video posted by the Publicity Secretary of the party that offended the Governor, Spokesperson Taiwo Adisa asserted that “The penchant of certain individuals, groups and faceless bodies to take to social media and raise unfounded alarm just to cause panic among the people of Oyo State is becoming a cause for concern..

“As a government, the contents of some of these audio and video releases have been investigated and mostly found to be outright falsehood, baseless claims and products of hate speech, targeted only at discrediting the government and inciting the people.”
