Etisalat Nigeria Becomes 9Mobile

Troubled telecommunication company, Etisalat has changed it’s brand name.

It is now to be known as 9mobile.

The brand name change comes on the heels of deadline given by parent company in United Arab Emirates for business partners in Nigeria to cease usage of the name.

The move was the fallout of pullout by the major investor Mubadala Group over a $1.4billion debt owe a consortium of banks.

Specific details on the strategy behind adoption of 9mobile remain sketchy.
