Enugu Assembly Set To Impeach Gov Chime For Forging N12 Billion 2012 Supplementary Budget

…as loyalists stage a counter sitting to suspend speaker

The Enugu state house of assembly is in disarray.

And at the heart of this development is attempt to impeach the Governor of the state, Sullivan Chime.

Information floating around indicate that the of the lawmakers led by speaker, Eugene Odo sat and ordered the clerk of the house to serve a notice of impeachment on the governor.

The decision is hinged on allegations Governor Chime forged the N12Billion 2012 supplementary budget.

Watchers of events however claim the development fallout of a cat and mouse game between the Governor and the leadership of the State House of Assembly over approval to
Sullivan Chime

secure a N11billion loan by the state head man as his administration winds down.

The Leadership of the House of Assemble refused to approve the move over what was labelled ‘grey arrears’ in explanation provided by the governor for the loan.

‘the truth they two parties failed to agree on inherent benefits of the move’ a source stated.

Added information further revealed the fallout was allegations the Governor lobbied some of the lawmakers to his side and started using them to interfere in the ‘running of the house’

The leadership had reacted by suspending alleged arrow heads of the Pro Chime lawmakers.

An act that further intensify the conflict playing out between the House of Assembly and the Governor- and ultimately resulted in the latest impeachment notice ordered to be served on the governor just days to the end of his regime.

More information however revealed that in a counter move Nine lawmakers loyal to the governor led by suspended lawmaker, Hon. John Kevin Ukwuta staged another sitting at the State House of Assembly under the cover of the Governor’s influence.

‘they recalled all suspended lawmakers and sacked the speaker and other principal officers and also stripped them of benefits due.

One of the recalled lawmakers , Chinedu Nwamba was enthroned as the new speaker and the other positions shared out amongst them….the sitting adjourned’

Insiders revealed after the sitting, the Governor ordered the place sealed off due to lingering crisis in the house.
