The re-election of the Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde has been confirmed.

The gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)  got 307,071 votes more than is strongest challenger Teslim Folarin of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Makinde secured 563,756 votes while Folarin secured 256, 685 in the Saturday, March 18, 2023, gubernatorial election..

 Adebayo Adelabu of the Accord Party came a distant third with 38,357 votes in what was branded a three-horse race.

Emerging gist has it that outside his first-term governor performance, Makinde’s winning was buoyed by support from splinter groups within the APC.

Makinde reportedly enabled a massive win for President-Elect, Bola Tinubu in Oyo during the February 25, 2023, presidential election.

“Groups within the APC returned the good by supporting Governor’s re-election” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

“It’s a case of one good turn deserves another” added revelation revealed.

Most of the APC members that switched allegiance to Makinde for the Oyo state gubernatorial election are said to be the core of party men aggrieved with flag bearer, Folarin.

The election was conducted in 33 local government areas.
