Information filtering in has it that the Economic and Financial Crimes has detained former minister Musiliu Obanikoro.

The embattled ex minister returned from the United States of America this morning after a prolonged hide and seek and public spat with the anti graft agency.

He is accused of deep involvement in illegal diversion of arms fund for election purposes.

The development that has former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki at the heart of the charges has consumed a number of big players in the immediate past administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan.
Obanikoro along with his sons is accused of handling diversion of arms funds for prosecution of election that brought Governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose to power – at a time the nation was suffering heavy casualties in the fight against terror.

Obanikoro and his sons evaded arrest via quick trip abroad in the name of pursuit of further education before the wave of arrests of those indicted in the mega money arms deal started.

The former minister and sons had stayed put abroad, even after the agency arrested his wife and daughter on allegations of attempting to cover up his alleged crime by allegedly attempting to remove incriminating documents from their Lagos home.

Though insiders claim to see it coming, his return and surrender to the EFCC earlier this morning caught many by surprise.

And according to information filtering in he remains in the agency’s custody undergoing interrogation and telling interrogators all he knows about accusations against him.
