Edo Dep Gov Philip Shaibu “Snubs” Impeachment Notice

The embattled Deputy Governor of Edo state, Philip Shaibu is snubbing the impeachment notice served against him by the State House of Assembly.

Checks revealed that Shaibu who emerged as the candidate of a faction of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the September 21, 2024, Edo gubernatorial election has refused to comment or react to the development – especially on social media, where he is very active.

Since the Edo State House of Assembly started the process of removal through a petition for impeachment signed by 21 out of 24 lawmakers, Shaibu has celebrated the efforts by Edo-born Osariemen Angel Asein, who is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest marathon reading aloud by an individual and identified with Edo Women as part of today’s International Women’s Day celebration on social media page – Facebook.

However, he refuses to speak on the impeachment process initiated by the Edo State House of Assembly.

The impeachment notice is believed to be the fallout of the ongoing political face-off with Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Asue Ighodalo, the choice of Obaseki is the gubernatorial candidate of the faction of the PDP backed by the Governor.

There are, however, claims that although he refuses to comment on the impeachment process against him openly – Shaibu has headed to the court of law to fight it.
