Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri alongside his Deputy, Dr. Peter Akpe today called an enlarged IYC stakeholders meeting at the Banquet hall, Yenagoa.

Governor Diri urged IYC leaders to embrace love, unity and peace for the overall interest and development of the Ijaw nation.

The governor said he called for the unity meeting to forestall future factionalisation of IYC especially ahead of the 2026 elective convention.

Governor Diri seized the occasion to reconcile Sir. Jonathan Lokpobiri and Theophilus Alaye, both of whom carried on as Presidents of Ijaw Youth Council.

“I appeal to all of us to embrace love, unity and peace. That’s the only way we can be stronger together and move Ijaw nation forward. We should sacrifice our personal interest for the overall interest and development of Ijaw nation. Let’s sheath our sword and work together.

I thank all of you for honoring my invitation for a peace and reconciliation meeting. This shows we love Ijaw nation”, Gov. Diri said.

Dignitaries at the meeting were the Member representing Yenagoa/Kolokuma/ Opokuma federal constituency, Hon. Oforji Oboku, Leader of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.
