Bayelsa Governor, Senator Douye Diri today in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) launched Economic Revitalization Programme to support MSMEs in the State.

The launching was done at the Governor’s office, in Government House, Yenagoa.

“We are very well prepared to partner and we will also play our role as a state government to ensure that we attract whatever that is due to Nigeria and to the states and we will not be left out in the United Nations Development Programme in Nigeria.

As a government, we have done that over and over in our first tenure. We have been training people in different areas. In fact, one of our very strong point as a government is the empowerment training of youths and women and after training we also give them starters pack.

So, I believe that this is one partnership that will bring succour to our state and indeed, to our country,” Governor Diri said.

The UNDP team leader, Mrs. Joyce Oburu, while handing over the 200mln symbolic cheque to Governor Diri stated that the primary objective of the project which is co-sponsored by the European Union is to mitigate the social economic challenges and to enhance the growth of MSMEs through targeted intervention and support mechanism.
