Insiders have shut down talks of a cold war between Hakeem Muri Okunola, the Lagos State Head of Service and Seyi, the son of powerful politician Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The duo are on the list of many as front runners in the race to determine who succeed Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the next Governor of Lagos State.

While Seyi is the biological son of Tinubu, the Lagos state Head of Service popular known HMO is one of the well known ‘anointed sons’ of the political leader.

“Infact HMO is not just one of the anointed sons, he has started bee seen as first among equals” in the strategic plan by Tinubu to groom and place ardent loyalists in positions of power where they can deliver on the larger agenda of executing the blue print that has transformed Lagos State into an incomparable entity societynow.ng learned.

Some claimed that the talks of who succeeds Sanwo-Olu have created a silent war between HMO and Seyi as strong contenders.

This is said to be especially in the face of assertions in different quarters that there is a strong possibility that Governor Sanwo-Olu may be limited to a single term in office.

Lobbyists, Loyalists and profiteers from bad politics are said to have lined behind the duo and creating whispers causing tension between them, those trumpeting “there is a col war between Seyi and HMO” on the streets claim.

Insiders, however, claim this is very far from the truth.

“Seyi has been nothing but a dutiful and respectful Aburo (younger brother) to H” societynow.ng learned.

Societynow.ng gathered that very close friends of HMO prefer to address him simply as H.

“The reality is that outside of the brotherly love they share, they both understand their positions in the scheme of things and know that their primary duty is ultimate loyalty to whatever decisions the system that produced them and serves as their power base take for the good of all, so a cold war or rift is out of place” societynow.ng learned.

According to added information “another thing that takes away from these talks of a rift is that you need to understand H and Seyi. Though he is a stickler for due process, H is one of the most forgiving persons around. Even when he sanctions you, he finds a way to make you understand why there is a need for such and if there is a way to – he finds means to take away a bit of the pain that comes with his action. And Seyi is Seyi, he may the son of the most powerful politician in this part of the world…he knows his place in the scheme of things and when not to overreach.’

Insiders disclosed that it is an added buoy to the rapport between Seyi and HMO that they are both members of Lagos Polo club and testimony to the rapport between them that they were spotted together last week – after Seyi had fantastic game and scored a spectacular goal – seated closely together, heads bowed in a lively conversation that dispels talks of ill winds for minutes.
