Fast-rising Nigerian singer Spyro graced the Gbemi and Toolz Off-Air brand-new set at their second season’s launch on Sunday, November 5, 2023. The ‘Only Fine Girl’ crooner brought his A-game to the performance after joining one of the ladies’ newest segments to discuss ‘stan culture’ and how it has affected him personally.

He performed his mega-hit songs, ‘Who’s Your Guy?’ and ‘Only Fine Girl’ to wrap up the new season’s first episode alongside his backup dancers to the delight of viewers. The performance was undoubtedly one of the most exciting things during the show.

He also revealed that he named his upcoming album ‘Next Rated’ and clarified that it wasn’t a dig at the Headies organisers or the award’s latest winner, Asake.  The Headies nominated Spyro in the Next Rated category alongside Victony, Young John, Seyi Vibes, and Asake earlier in the year. While he didn’t emerge winner in that category, he took home the plaque for ‘Best Collaboration’ for ‘Who’s Your Guy?’

The fast-rising star joined Toolz and Gbemi on the show to discuss stan culture, calling out Wizkid FC for continuously dragging him over a personal opinion he shared a year ago about who has a more successful career between Wizkid and Davido. This discussion set the tone for the first episode as the ladies continued to discuss fandoms and stan culture.

They invited representatives from the 30BG fandom and Wizkid FC and had the two defend their positions as the biggest Afrobeat fandoms in Nigeria. As expected, both representatives maintained that their favourite acts were more successful than the other.

Their final guest for the first episode, a licensed psychologist, delved into the more scientific side of things, noting that stan culture can only be a problem if it affects a fan’s ability to perform daily activities or when they become obsessive. She stated that many people who become superfans use celebrities to fill in the gaps of loneliness or the need for a community that they lack.

The second Off-Air TV season features a new set fitted with a bar from Malta Guinness. It also has new show segments, a studio audience and live performances. Fresh episodes air every Sunday at 7 p.m. on Africa Magic Urban and 9 p.m. on Africa Magic Showcase. For more information about the show, visit the website and follow all official handles of Africa Magic on TwitterFacebook and Instagram.
