Details: Edo Guber Election Takes Off With A Shaky Start

Early indications show the much anticipated Edo Gubernatorial election is off with a shaky start.

Societynow.ng confirmed that voting materials have recorded late arrivals to voting centers.

Thirty (30) minutes after supposed commencement of the exercise, voting materials are still expected at a large percentage of the voting centres according to information monitored across different platforms by societynow.ng.

There are clear abuses of the use of face masks as voters mingle at will against the Covid-19 Protocol.

There is zero social distancing.

An altercation between youths and policemen has been recorded at a voting centre, Ebokpe Primary School in Benin, even before voting gets underway.

There are fears over security in the backwater and inner areas of Edo State where there are limited exposures to election monitoring.

The Edo election is expected to be a feisty affair between two main challengers Godwin Obaseki and Osagie Ize-Iyamu and their supporters.

Obaseki seeking re-election is the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party while Ize-Iyamu is the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress.
