Now that a major move didn’t work out custodians of the identities behind the sponsor have started keeping loose lips.

Societynow.ng learned the identity of one of the major financial backers of the gubernatorial ambition of Adekunle Akinlade has been unveiled.

He is Abdulwasiu Sowami a very low profile but a highly connected player in the oil world.

Sowami is the brain behind Prudent Energy and Services Limited.

He was cleared by authorities in an Alleged N1.3billion oil Subsidy Scam.

Sowami was one of the Managing Directors arrested by the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) during the raging outcry over massive corruption in the fuel subsidy scheme.

The Prudent Energy boss was alleged to have been paid over N1.3billion ‘’based on a single importation of over 18million litres of PMS’’.

Sowami, however, walked free from the charges and kept a low profile.

The oilman returned to social consciousness with a daring business move recently.

Sowami spearheaded purchase of 75% equity in Femi Otedola’s Forte Oil.

The celebrated transaction which runs into millions of dollars scheduled to be perfected by end of Quarter 1 of 2019.

Thecapital.ng provided background on Sowami in a report that revealed the Prudent Energy boss funded Akinlade’s gubernatorial election.

Information societynow.ng obtained from thecapital.ng revealed that Sowami became involved in the Akinlade gubernatorial project as a result of the connection with Governor Ibikunle Amosun.

Amosun and Sowami are said to have ‘’buoyant business’’ relationship.

Governor Amosun dared all odds – including expulsion from the ruling All Progressives Congress – to make Akinlade a major contender in the just concluded gubernatorial election in Ogun state.

Akinlade, who contested on the platform of the Allied People’s Movement lost the election to APC’s Dapo Abiodun.
