Details As Gov Eno Prepares To Unveil 350-bed Quaternary Hospital On Tuesday June 23

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has announced that the 350-bed quaternary hospital along the State medical corridor will be unveiled on Tuesday June 23, 2026.
He hinted that the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, will be in the State to officially open the hospital which he said will have 24 critical departments including oncology services.
The Governor made this disclosure at a special dinner in honour of a team from the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), held at Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo.
He also used the opportunity to speak about other ongoing projects in the State such as : the ongoing building of the 5,000-capacity International Convention Centre, the 250-room International Hotel, and the world-class Shopping City, which “all constitute the intentional creation of a tourism ecosystem, aimed at changing the narrative of tourism and economic development in the State.
The Governor added that as part of the planned effort to promote tourism and investment in the State, “Ibom Air would on June 28, 2026, begin its twice weekly international flight from Uyo to Ghana. We are equally in talks with the Ethiopian Airlines to fly out of Uyo to Addis Ababa twice a week also.
According to the Governor, “We believe that Akwa Ibom will be a State to watch as we go into the coming days, months, and years because we are taking tourism development and growth to a different viable and superlative dimension.
“All we are doing in Akwa Ibom State is to create an alternative to oil, and we are very intentional about it. My projection is that in the next two years, all of these will begin to make sense for people to really understand what we have been building to change our economy for the better,” he said.
The Governor said the State was embarking on 85 audacious projects that are being executed across the State, and that all of them are being done without borrowing money from any bank.
He said over 1,368km of roads and 40 bridges are either completed or at different stages of completion, with a commitment to connect every part of the State to foster smooth and free movement of goods and services.
He appreciated the RMFAC team for their encouraging words, saying that the dinner was just a token of appreciation for their commitment to their constitutional responsibilities.
Setting the tone, the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah said Akwa Ibom is the best kept secret of Nigeria, blessed with rich culture and cuisine and led by a visionary and compassionate Governor.
Making reference to the philosophy that money is a coward and doesn’t go to places where there is fear, he said the State is safe and monies allocated are safely managed for the good of all.
In his remarks, the team lead, Prof. Olusegun Adekunle Wright, appreciated Governor Eno for his visionary and impactful leadership in the State, and commended him for a smooth working relationship and synergy with the Commission.
He appreciated the Governor, and the State for its exceptional hospitality, adding that the gala night was more than just a celebration but a reflection of the values of the State.
The event was equally attended by the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi; members of the State Executive Council; political stalwarts; security chiefs; and other government functionaries.
