It is a symphony of discordance that is playing out within the cabinet of the Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola.

Insiders disclosed some of his die-hard commissioners have broken rank with the state helmsman in support of a new gubernatorial aspirant.

Aregbesola has chosen Gboyega Oyetola, his chief of staff – and stepbrother to political mentor Asiwau Bola Tinubu – as anointed candidate.

But few days to the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress Congress’ gubernatorial primary election to determine party candidate, not less five major players in the Governor’s cabinet have moved against his anointed candidate.

Societynowng.ng gathered that commissioners for justice Ajibola Basiru, Local Government and Chieftaincy Kolapo Alimi, Regional Integration Bola IIori along with Special Adviser Bayo Ojo are now backing the gubernatorial ambition of the Commissioner for Finance Bola Oyebamiji.

Insiders disclosed the all those concerned held a Monday – June 25, 2018 – meeting with Aregbesola insisting Oyebamiji is a better sell than Oyetola.

Sources disclosed the breakaway cabinet members want the Governor to key into the rising demand for the next Governor to come from the large voting area of Osun West.

Societynow.ng gathered that there are strong indications rival People’s Democratic Party is already towing this path.

Oyetola the man Aregbesola is backing as a possible successor is from Osun Central.

Information monitored on news platform Citymirrornews.com revealed that Oyebamiji agenda already has support from the likes of Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly Timothy Owoeye, former APC chairman Elder Adelowo Adebiyi, and others.

Added details from the news spotter revealed that all those concern have already gone public with their support for an aspirant different from the one backed by Governor Aregbesola.

According to Citymirrornews.com “On Tuesday, both Basiru and Bola Ilori updated the campaign poster of Oyebamiji on the facebook and twitter accounts with a caption ‘Irewolede, West Lodu’, an indication that they had fully declared their support for him.”

Checks by societynow.ng revealed the open support on social media transpired a day after the Monday night meeting with Aregbesola over the need for him to drop Oyetola for Oyebamiji.

Informants claim news of the crumbling support base of Governor Aregbesola in attempt to ensure his choice become party candidate is currently the talk of the town in and out of the party as members prepare for what promises to be a keenly contested shadow election.
