Details As African Voices Changemakers Focuses On Fashion Entrepreneur, Art Curator

Fashion designing and visual arts will be on display this week as African Voices Changemakers, features two Nigerians who have taken their talents beyond the shores of Nigeria. The magazine programme of the Cable News Network (CNN) is powered by data grandmasters, Globacom.

The two fashion and arts enthusiasts are Chuks Collins, a New-York-based fashion designer and Adenrele Sonariwo, a princess of Sagamu in Ogun State and Art Curator who established Rele Arts Gallery in 2010.
Collins, who was a Customer Care relations staff of Globacom before relocating to the United States of America started his adventure in 2010 with the launch of his clothing line which was founded on a mission to style people with a view to conferring respect and pride on them.

A major health scare in 2012 with a bad accident and a terrifying kidney issue that necessitated a kidney transplant failed to stop his determination to thrive in his chosen pathway. He recuperated soon enough to unveil his debut collection which he named ‘Survival’ and followed with two more collections named ‘The Journey’ and ‘The Dream’.

He has been a celebrated participant in fashion weeks in New York, Philadelphia and New Jersey. He has also displayed his versatility in Canada and Belarus while designing for Ralph Lauren and other notable fashion labels in New York.

On her own part, Sonariwo, founded Rele Arts Gallery in 2010. The gallery has two offices- one at Onikan, Lagos and Los Angeles, the United States of America. She got her first degree in Accounting at Howard University, and then went on to work at Nigeria’s PricewaterhouseCoopers as an accountant for four years. She followed with an Masters degree in Multimedia Communications from the Academy of Art University and a certificate in Curating Contemporary Art Exhibitions from the University of the Arts, London

A 2016 recipient of The Future Awards for Arts and Culture, Sonariwo was on the Power List of influencers in culture in 2016 and 2017.In March 2017; she was listed as one of the 100 Most Inspiring Women in Nigeria. She has imparted knowledge at TEDx events and was a member of the jury at the 2018 Dak’art Biennale.

Both talents will be on African Voices Changemakers on DSTV CNN Channel 401 on Saturday at 9.30a.m with repeats of the programme on Sunday at 7.30a.m, 12.30p.m, 7.30p.m, 11.30p.m and Monday at 5.30a.m.
