While President Muhammadu Buhari and Governors of other state’s opted for celebration of today’s 60th independence day in manner that limits the gathering of people, the Governor of Oyo State Seyi Makinde towed another path.

The Governor forsook need to keep stick to Covid-19 protocol that forced Buhari and his colleagues to be caution by staging an Independence Day Walk across different streets with many of his loyalists and supporters taking part.

Makinde did not only stage the Independence Day Walk, the Govenor uploaded pictures from the event on his social media page with the message

‘’Independence Day Walk: A Focus on the Future.

We choose to focus on the future because if a person’s past is not filled with happy memories, he has the choice to create happier moments in the future.

As we celebrate #NigeriaAt60, let us continue to give democracy a chance. May we never think of allowing the affliction of military rule to rise again. May we never forget that even the worst democratic government is better than the best dictatorship.’’
