Bola Shobowale, the Chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area (LCDA), accused of absenteeism, failed to appear before the Lagos State House of Assembly committee investigating the allegations against her.

The House Committee on Local Government Affairs had summoned stakeholders from the LCDA, including Shobowale, to a meeting on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, following a petition from concerned citizens.

The petition, routed through the office of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, urged the legislative body to intervene in the situation, which has reportedly stalled development in the area.

Among other things, the petition alleged that the chairman had been absent from work for a prolonged period and refused to follow the chain of command to ensure effective operations during her absence. This development, it claimed, has hindered progress and created tension as power mongers exploit the situation.

The Lagos Assembly’s invitation to stakeholders from the council was aimed at investigating the issues and finding an all-inclusive solution.

“But the chairman was absent at the meeting. Other persons attended, including her loyalists, but she was not there,” according to insiders.

The development has further fueled speculations about her whereabouts and raised questions about her well-being.
