Demola Adeleke’s Guber Ambition Going, Going …As PDP Leaders Move To Adopt Insurance Boss, Ogunbiyi

Emerging details have it that the gubernatorial ambition of Senator Demola Adeleke is “seriously on shaky ground”.

Insiders disclosed the leadership of his political party, People’s Democratic Party (PDP, Osun state chapter) is seriously considering adopting another candidate.

Societynow.ng gathered that Akin Ogunbiyi, the group chairman of Mutual Benefits Assurance appears to be the new bride of Osun state PDP leaders.

Ogunbiyi recently declared an interest in the Osun governorship position to party members and other stakeholders

Interestingly Wole Oke, the new power in Osun PDP is said to have switched from campaigning for Demola to championing Ogunbiyi’s agenda.

Sources disclosed “a growing number of PDP leaders have started towing Oke’s path”.

Societynowng.com’s digs revealed that it was Oke’s move that actually gave wings to Demola’s gubernatorial dreams.

Oke – and his followers – reportedly approached billionaire Deji Adeleke and offered him the Osun PDP gubernatorial ticket.

But he turned the table on them by negotiating it for his less popular brother Demola Adeleke in exchange for his support.

“The emergence of Ogunbiyi has obviously provided a better deal for Oke and his people and they are seizing the opportunity” an insider disclosed.

Ogunbiyi is believed to possess all the qualities that attracted Oke and others to Deji Adeleke.

“He has a good name, great reputation, and scandal-free. And they are convinced he has the financial muscle to see through a gubernatorial campaign, especially against a party in power” an insider disclosed.

The PDP is up against Rauf Aregbesola, a two-term All Progressives Congress governor fighting hard to install a self-anointed successor.

Further checks by societynow.ng revealed that the “clincher” for Ogunbiyi’s growing supporters within the PDP is that he is from the large voting area of Osun west like the now lesser liked Senator Adeleke.

“Ogunbiyi is seen as a more serious and marketable candidate” a source asserted.

“A development that now haunts him in his pursuit for higher office” an insider summed up the situation that has put the gubernatorial ambition of the Osun West Senator in serious doubt.
