Dangote’s Workers Threaten Strike Over Salary Arrears and Benefits
There is a growing unrest in the midst of workers in the fold of business concerns owned by Nigeria’s richest man (according to Forbes), Alhaji Aliko Dangote.
Sources claimed the workers are agitating for payment of salary arrears and benefits accrued.
Informants pegged the outstanding salaries in the region of three months- plus benefits.
The benefits ranges from health, to leave and related bonuses.
According to findings by societynowng.com this development became an issue at Dangote group last year- in November 2012.
‘This was around November cum December..the workers advocated for the money to experience a wonderful yuletide period’ a source confirmed.
Informants claimed when management were not forthcoming- the workers threatened strike action, particular those at Dangote Cement Factory.
Insiders revealed a quick shift palliative measure was employed by administrators at the place to douse the tension.
According to an insider ‘ they made something available to leaders of the unrest’
Sources claimed it appears the effect of that action has worn off with the New year break.
The aggrieved staffers have started regrouping- demanding their due, with strike as threat against their employer.
