Controversy Over Names Of Owners Of N20m Per Annum Ikoyi Apartment In Building Where EFCC Found Mysterious N15billion
There is an emerging controversy.
And it centres around the release of the identities of owners of luxury apartments located inside Osbone towers, the building where anti corruption agency Economic and Financial Crimes Commission found $43,449,947, £27,800 and N23,218,000 .
The ownership of the fund estimated to be N15billion in local currency – found in an empty apartment -has being generating huge controversy.
As part of investigations into the development, the EFCC secured a court order to search other apartments said to be leased out for N20million per annum in the building.
An unofficial release of the occupiers and owners of the luxury as however sparked off a fresh round of controversy.
It is believed the development subjects the apartment owners and residents to undue pressure and vilification via speculations and false allegations.
‘’it criminalises them because the subconscious perception is that because of the link to the building many presume they have a thing or another to do with mysterious fund’’ a source claims.
It is an outright invasion of privacy appears to be general theme of those against the disclosure of the residents and apartments owners.
Those who applaud the revelation label it normal and part of‘’investigative’’ process
This latest twist is the second snowball of controversy that trail the discovery of the mysterious fund which the National Intelligence Agency is laying claim to on the excuse it was meant for covert operations.
Ironically the first controversy which has refused to go away laid the ground for the latest, the ownership of the fund which the EFCC did not establish before coming to town with the discovery.
