At the heart of every love story is a lesson many gloss over. Whether that is due to the chemistry between the leads or the grand gestures that mirror what viewers fantasise about experiencing in their everyday lives, all love stories have a central theme. Africa Magic’s My Fairytale Wedding explores the narrative of what happens if a failsafe method helps the love interests find their happily ever after.

“It’s important for us to tell stories about love and also to emphasise that you can find love without forcing it. Take your time, the right person will come to you,” Chichi Nworah, Executive Producer, My Fairytale Wedding, disclosed in an interview at the My Fairytale Wedding private screening.

Directed by Dimeji Ajibola, “My Fairytale Wedding” follows the journey of a young woman who, with the aid of magic (Kayanmata), captures the heart of Lagos’ most eligible bachelor. The show poses the question: Does this enchantment lead to true love? The talented ensemble cast includes stars like Ramsey Nouah, Ini Edo, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Shaffy Bello, Ayo Mogaji, Tina Mba, Lilian Esoro, Daniel Etim-Effiong, Carolyna Hutchings, and Vine Olugu.

Speaking on what inspired the My Fairytale Wedding story, Nworah disclosed that her research on Kanyanmata led to her conversation with the writers of the limited series, Great Opara, Xavier Ighorodje, and Owumi Ugbeye.

“I want to tell the story that people shouldn’t try using unnatural influence to make things happen for them. Love is something you can find naturally, you don’t need to force it,” she added.
