Bukola Saraki Tells Quiet & Extraordinary Thing Happening To PDP In Kwara State
doing all he can to regain political control of the state
Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has disclosed what he described as “something quiet, yet extraordinary” happening to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State.
The former governor, who lost his grip on the politics of Kwara State in the wake of the revolutionary “O’Tòògé (Enough is Enough) Movement” that ended his family’s longstanding control, shared the revelation on Sunday, May 18, 2025.
He narrated that, “As the People’s Democratic Party membership registration got underway, thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds showed up—braving the relentless rain to stand in line, waiting patiently to be part of something bigger than themselves.
“It is easy to overlook these moments, but what struck me was not just the numbers, but the story behind them: people are collectively yearning for change and for a future that looks different from the governance they are experiencing today.”
The PDP registration in Kwara began on Saturday, May 17, 2025.
Providing further context, the top-level politician—often associated with talks of presidential ambition—added, “What this reveals is a simple truth: real change does not happen overnight. It is the sum of small acts. It is the story of ordinary people making a choice to engage, to participate, and to register their belief in a better Kwara.”
He further described the registration process as “an invitation to become part of a larger, people-centred narrative that is still being written.”
He urged, “So, if you feel that pull, that call toward something greater, take action today by visiting your ward registration centre. Become part of the change.”
The politician, who has not held elective office since 2019, concluded his narrative with the declaration: “A better future for Kwara State is not just something that we should aspire to casually; we must all take action today.”
Kwara is currently under the firm control of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who is determined to ensure the party retains power in the state after his second term ends in 2027.
Saraki, one of the national leaders of the PDP, is doing all he can to regain political control of the state—control he lost in the sweeping defeat of 2019, when he ran unsuccessfully for re-election to the Senate.
