Best Of Nollyword’s Oloketuyi Writes AGN President Emeka Rollas, Kicks Against The Appointment Of Senator Abbo As Patron

Seun Oloketuyi, the publisher of the voice of the movie industry – Best Of Nollywood – has added his voice against the appointment of Senator Elisha Abbo as the Patron of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria.

Elisha Abbo was the senator caught on video assaulting a nursing mother in a sex toy shop in Abuja not too long ago.

A couple of actors and actresses including Kate Henshaw and Hilda Dokubo have kicked against the appointment of the embattled Senator as the national patron of the Actors’ Guild by the national executive led by Emeka Rollas.

The letter by Oloketuyi who is also the chief organizer of the popular BON Awards adds to the growing opposition to the appointment of Abbo by the AGN Executive.

The letter addressed to ‘’Mr. Emeka Rollas, President AGN’’ reads

Dear sir,

OPEN LETTER ON THE APPOINTMENT OF SEN ELISHA ABBO AS ACTORS’ GUILD PATRON

First of all, congratulations on the successful event you had in Abuja last week. From experience, a feat of this kind in Nigeria is not easy at all and it is refreshing to see you have set an agenda and goals you want to be remembered for as a president of Actors Guild of Nigeria.

I write you on this current issue of making Senator Elisha Abbo a patron of AGN. While I do not know the criteria used by you and the other executives in arriving at your choice of the senator, as a leader of a very prominent members of the acting community, a better choice is expected.

Mr. President, if you ask around in various forums where Nollywood practitioners discuss the matter, majority are riled by this choice.

It is my assumption the senator was chosen in error and it will go a long way if his appointment is reversed. We all make mistakes and what stands us out always is how the mistakes are corrected.

The time to keep quiet is not now but I think you should address the guild members and the acting family you mean well.

While wishing you all the best, time is going and a stitch in time, as they say, can still save nine. Please, do something fast.
