The Senator Ajibola Basiru Campaign Organisation has strongly denied reports that Ajibola Surajudeen Basiru is seeking reconciliation with former Osun State governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to secure his gubernatorial ambition.

In a statement released by the campaign’s spokesperson, Sulieman Ajala, the organisation described such claims as false, baseless, and a figment of the imagination of those spreading them.

Basiru, a leading aspirant in the build-up to the 2026 Osun governorship election under the All Progressives Congress (APC), emphasized that the Osun APC is not in crisis, contrary to recent speculations. He noted that he has not had any personal or political contact with Aregbesola since 2021 and has no intention of building any alliance with him.

“Basiru never did and will not do so as a matter of principle and conviction to any person or group with political interests diametrically opposed to that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Ajala stated.

According to the statement, the gubernatorial aspirant has consistently maintained a loyal and respectful relationship with President Tinubu for over two decades, seeing him as a father and mentor. “He would never engage in any act that would undermine the reputation of the president,” Ajala added.

Aregbesola formerly dubbed the closest person to Tinubu is estranged with the President. And at present a beautiful bride of opposition to President Tinubu.

The statement stressed that Basiru holds firm to the core principles of the APC, recognizing that power comes only from God and through the guidance of the party’s leadership. As a lawyer of reputable integrity, he has refused to join the fray of political gossip and speculation that has enveloped the social media space, choosing instead to focus on serving the party and the people.

The campaign organisation reiterated that no member of its team has ever made any statements or taken any actions that could be construed as disrespectful to President Tinubu or the APC leadership.

Basiru, through his spokesperson, urged those spreading “malicious and seditious lies” to desist immediately, affirming his unwavering commitment to loyalty, humility, and integrity.

After leaving APC, Aregbesola returned to prominence with a new political group – Omoluabi Progressives.
