While the beneficiaries suffer for lack of where to stay, there superior officers are profiting from the anguish of the junior officers.
Societynowng.com gathered that apartments meant for aides of military officers situated in Lagos state has become one of the hottest piece of properties for civilians.
Insiders revealed the officers rather than give out the apartments to those it is earmarked for, are currently renting it out for personal gains.
The properties in questions are located on Reeve road, off Glover Ikoyi Lagos.
It is a four block of twelve storey buildings sources confirmed.
A block is said to have four units of apartments on each floor.
Digs revealed each unit is made of either a room or two rooms plus a kitchenette including a one stop toilet and bath.
A complementary cupboard and small size wardrobe are walled in.
Societynowng.com gathered the buildings which boasts of elevators – now malfunctioned – were put up by the federal government for the convenience of aides allocated to military officers transferred to the state.
But the building is said to be predominantly occupied by civilians at present.
Digs by societynowng.com revealed the occupiers pay between N500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand) to 700,000 ( Seven Hundred Thousand) to secure the apartments.
The fees paid are said to be based on what floor the apartment of interest is located.
”Those staying from the ground floor to the sixth floor pay more, while from the seventh to twelfth floor pay less
”The inconvenience of climbing all those steps is factored into rent” a source explained.
Added revelations have it that, the rent covers electricity bills and two hours of generator usage in the morning and three at night in the absence of power.
Ironically, the military is said to be officially responsible for powering the buildings and, foots all other maintenance costs.

”I have been here a while, I just pay and that is it…I am yet to see anybody that received one” a source disclosed.
Added digs revealed that most of those who have taken over the apartments are bankers, oil workers and related high income earners working in Ikoyi, Victoria Island and Lekki axis of lagos state.
”Majority are people with families on the mainland but opted for the bargain to avoid the stress of communing early to work and arriving home very late in the night after work…what they is secure the place, stay there during the week and go spend the weekend with their family and return either Sunday night or Monday’’ a source explained.
Sources however disclosed the arrangement for ‘’renting out of the apartments’ involves usage of a third party that shrouds the specific ‘’officer’’ at the other end of the transaction.
