Army Gen Praises Vatsa Foundation For Empowering Widows Of Fallen Heroes

The Theatre Commander Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI Maj Gen GU Chibuisi, has commended the Hajiya Hadiza Mamman Vatsa Foundation, for putting a smile on the faces of 60 Widows of fallen heroes in Maiduguri.

He gave the commendation while remarking during an empowerment ceremony, organised by the Hajiya Hadiza Mamman Vatsa Foundation on 16 January 2024, at Theatre Command Officers’ Mess Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri.

Gen Chibuisi who was represented by the Deputy Theatre Commander Maj Gen OM Bello, stated that the event was a unique one, having just concluded the Armed Forces Celebration and Rememberance Day, which is celebrated annually to remember and honour the fallen heroes who paid the supreme price. He described the programme as a laudable initiative which would have lasting positive effect on the beneficiaries.

He further used the medium, to extend the Theatre Commander’s appreciation for the kind gesture and prayed God to lift the Foundation by leaps and bounds.

In her emotional remarks, the Founder of the Foundation Ambassador Hadiza Mamman Vatsa said, she was delighted to be in Maimalari Cantonment to empower the widows of fallen heroes. She emphasized that the government can not do it alone, hence her intervention with such empowerment supports to the widows of the members of Armed Forces and paramilitary. She added that the Foundation would carry out similar empowerments in 36 states of the country and the FCT.

Giving a brief background about the Foundation earlier, the Chairman Dr Abubakar Jimoh said, the Foundation is a non profit organization committed to making positive impact in the lives of families of the Nigerian Armed Forces and Paramilitary, adding that it recognises the immense sacrifice of patriotic individuals and also aim to alleviate their burdens through various support services, financial aid and educational programmes amongst others.

In her vote of thanks on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Hadiza Mohammed appreciated the Foundation for the empowerment, assuring that they would make good use of the items presented. Items presented included: sewing machines, grinding machines, vulcanizing machines and hair dryers.

The event featured symbolic presentation of the empowerment items, dance entertainment, photographs and presentation of token, wheel chairs and crutches to the wounded in action soldiers at 7 Division Medical Services and Hospital.
