Anyaoku, Remi Tinubu, Daura, Awele Elumelu, Omogiafo & Others Get National Honours

“List of 2023 Special National Honours Award Recipients”

The Federal government has released a new list of the recipients of national awards.

The Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs published the honours list with names of top players in different sectors with giant strides including the creative industry earlier today.

Some of the names are Emeka Anyaoku, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Godwin Emefiele, Awele Elumelu, Chief Bisi Akande, Herbert Wigwe, Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, Mamman Dura, Owem Omogiafo, Mariam Olusanya, and other notable Nigerians

Described as the “List of 2023 Special National Honours Award Recipients” it contains six categories of awardees.

The categories are Grand Commander of The Order of The Niger (GCON), Commander of The Order of The Federal Republic (CFR), Commander of The Order Of The Niger (CON), Officer Of The Order Of The Federal Republic (OFR), Officer Of The Order Of The Niger (OON), Member Of The Order Of The Federal Republic (MFR), Member Of The Order Of The Niger (MON) and Federal Republic Medal 1 (FRM1).

Emeka Anyaoku, the former commonwealth Secretary-General is the sole recipient of the Grand Commander of Order of the Niger award on the list.

Among the awardees for Commander of The Order of The Federal Republic (CFR) are Mamman Daura; Godwin Emefiele, Central Bank Governor; Olusegun Osoba; Herbert Wigwe, Chief Executive Officer Access Holdings; Supreme Court Justices Chime Nweze, Amina Augie, Nwani Abba Ajie and John Okoro; Chief Bisi Akande and others.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is on the list of the Commander of The Order of Niger (CON) along with Senator George Akume, Ministers Isa Ali Pantami, Rauf Aregbesola and Keyam; Govenors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun) and Yahaya Bello (Kogi); Billionaire Taiwo Afolabi and others.

On the list of awardees for Officer of the Order of The Federal Republic (OFR) are Awele Elumelu, co-founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation; Oluwakemi Pinhero, Senior Advocate of Nigeria; Kingsley Obiora; Ahmed Kuru, AMCON Managing Director; Journalism great Yemi Ogunbiyi; Wale Edun and others.

For the Officer of The Order of Niger ( OON), some of the awardees are Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, Fidelity Bank Managing Director; Owen Omogiafo, President of Transcorp Group; Miriam Olusanya, Guaranty Trust Bank Managing Director; Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar and others.

The creative industry shines on the OON list with Kunle Afolayan (Film making), Davido (Music), and Tiwa Savage (Music) as representatives.

Listed on the roll call of awardees for Member of The Order of The Federal Republic (MFR) are Justice Titi Mabogunje, Babagana Mohammed Aji, Idris Ahmed Kashim, and footballer Victor Osimhen. Emeka Emmanuel and others

The Member of the Order Of The Niger (MON) has on its honor scroll, Suru Oyarede, Usman Bello, Ejike Chukwu, Stephen Mamza, Tolu Ogunlesi, Clement Nwankwo and others.

The final list, that of Federal Republic Medal 1 (FRM1), has only three persons on the list of awardees: Jumoke Janet Awodigede, Alade Doris Pamela, and Mohammed Hakeem Babalola.

The recipients will receive their certificates and medals on June 1, 2023.
