Amosun’s Wife, Olufunso, To Celebrate 60th Birthday With Royal Moremi Honour
widely viewed as a defining moment that reflects not only personal milestone
All is set for a landmark cultural and social celebration as wife of former Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun, Chief (Mrs) Olufunso Amosun, marks her 60th birthday alongside the formal installation of her revered chieftaincy title as Yeye Moremi Oodua.
The ceremony, slated for Saturday, May 2, 2026, in Ile-Ife, will bring together royalty, political figures, and prominent Nigerians in a symbolic convergence of culture, leadership and service.
Mrs Amosun, who was conferred with the prestigious Yeye Moremi Oodua title eight years ago, had at the time declined public celebration in keeping with her quiet disposition.
However, her decision to formally mark the honour alongside her 60th birthday is being widely viewed as a defining moment that reflects not only personal milestone but a reaffirmation of enduring cultural values.
The installation ceremony will be performed by the Arole Oodua, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, at the Ooni’s Palace Grounds by 10 a.m., underscoring the deep traditional significance of the occasion.

Steeped in Yoruba history, the Yeye Moremi title draws inspiration from the legendary Queen Moremi Ajasoro, celebrated for her courage, sacrifice and uncommon devotion to the liberation and advancement of her people.
Observers note that Mrs Amosun’s life of compassion, service and steadfast commitment to uplifting others mirrors the ideals embodied by the iconic heroine.
The celebrations will continue with a birthday reception at Ojaja Resort Event Centre, Ile-Ife, by 2 p.m., where guests are expected to grace the occasion in regal attire, reflecting the grandeur and cultural depth of the event.
Colours of the day have been designated as olive green on burgundy, gold or white.
Sources close to the family describe the joint celebration as more than a festivity, but a thoughtful statement of values — leadership anchored on compassion, service driven by purpose, and the elevation of women as central pillars of societal progress.
As dignitaries and well-wishers gather in the ancient city, the event is set to stand not only as a personal celebration, but as a cultural milestone that reinforces the enduring relevance of tradition in contemporary Nigerian society.
