The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, alongside his family, friends and associates, attended an End-of-Year Family Thanksgiving service at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Sampou, in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, for the year 2025.

The Governor reflected on the challenges of the year, particularly the painful loss of the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo and reminded the congregation of the biblical call to give thanks in all circumstances.

He expressed gratitude for the love, unity and prayers the family has enjoyed and urged continued togetherness for the progress of Bayelsa State.

Speaking during the thanksgiving, the Governor said: “On behalf of our family, I want to appreciate everyone here today. We thank you for your prayers and support, and we urge that we continue to live in love and unity with one another, because that is what will make us better as a people and as a state.

“Although we were struck by tragedy towards the end of the year, we have chosen to thank God for our lives, for our community, our Local Government Area and our dear Bayelsa State. Thank you all for coming, and God bless you.”

Dignitaries in attendance included Her Excellency Dr. (Mrs.) Gloria Diri, Her Excellency Hon. Justice (Mrs.) Patience Ama Zuofa Diri, Hon. Fred Agbedi, Hon. Werinipre Pamoh, Hon. (Mrs.) Ayibanengiyefa Egba, members of the State Executive Council and other top government officials.
