Governor Dapo Abiodun has reeled out the initiatives that stand out Ogun State in the raging fight against highly infectious Covid -19 also known as Coronavirus

The Ogun State Governor stated

I have just commissioned in Ikenne and Sagamu respectively, two of the three isolation centres (the third being in Iberekodo, Abeokuta) in Ogun State towards further containing the spread of COVID-19 within the State. The purpose-built facilities are of 21-bed (Sagamu), 100-bed (Iberekodo) and 128-bed (Ikenne) capacities, respectively.

I disclosed that the restriction order from the Presidency on internal movements of goods and persons within Ogun State (Lagos and FCT Abuja) will take effect from Friday, 3rd April, 2020. This is a result of my talks with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H.E, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR to allow our people to make use of the time between now and then to our prepare for the lockdown. The presidential order however implies that the interstate and international border closure I earlier ordered now takes effect from 11pm today, March 30.

We are currently working on setting up a test centre within the State, so that we do not have to wait for days to have results returned from our neighbour Lagos State, while we have produced 140,000 hand sanitizers for free distribution to everyone within the State.

We have enabled our health sector through purposive training, provision of equipment and ambulances, and the assurance of technical, logistic and manpower support from the Babcock University Teaching Hospital (BUTH), Ilishan-Remo and the OOUTH, Sagamu.

Also, I am proud to announce that as a government which has controlled this pandemic from reaching its exponential stage, we remain the first State Government amidst all these to begin televised class sessions, tagged OgunDigiClass for pupils and students of primary and secondary schools who are caught at home as a result of the extant restrictions.

We will be using the period between now and Friday to finalise modalities on how to reach vulnerable people and the needy with stimulus packages that include mainly food items.

I again urge everyone to understand that at this time, we all must act according to given directives.

I also call on the private sector to continue to support us, like Chief Obasanjo, Pa Adeboye, Alhaji Rabiu, and Mr Adeola in this joint challenge.
