The Presidency on Friday announced that all the pupils and teachers abducted in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State have been rescued by security agencies.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed the development in a post on his social media account.
“Finally, all the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo have been rescued by our security agencies,” Onanuga wrote.
He did not provide further details on the rescue operation or the condition of the victims.
The abduction, which occurred in May, sparked nationwide outrage and prompted sustained rescue efforts by security agencies. It also led to protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers and renewed calls for stronger security around schools.
The rescue marks the end of weeks of uncertainty for the affected families and communities, with more details on the operation expected from the authorities.
