Akeredolu’s Men’ Preferred Next Gov Campaigns For Aiyedatiwa In Ondo Guber

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is gaining increasing support from unlikely places ahead of the November 16, 2024, Ondo state gubernatorial election.

Wale Akinterinwa, the former Commissioner for Finance and the preferred candidate of the hardcore loyalists of the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, is intensely campaigning for him.

Hardcore supporters of the late Akeredolu have been at odds with Aiyedatiwa in a complex political-turned-personal battle, with roots in the period when the late governor battled the illness that ultimately claimed his life.

They backed Akinterinwa against Aiyedatiwa in the keenly contested April 20, 2024, gubernatorial primary for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the November election.

However, Aiyedatiwa prevailed -.despite the enormous opposition that rose on the far-reaching goodwill of the late Akeredolu.

While others within the estranged Akeredolu political family have chosen to continue the battle on other fronts,

Akinterinwa has embraced fate and party supremacy, now campaigning for Aiyedatiwa to win the election.

Checks revealed, among other things, that Akinterinwa has deployed the platforms he used in battling Aiyedatiwa for the APC gubernatorial ticket to vigorously campaign for his election as the next governor.
