Aftermath of Ex Governors Arrest… EFCC After Akala, Gbenga Daniels Men

…Why Kola Onadipe, Femi Babalola, Demola Ojo, Kehinde Sogunle, Tunde Ologburo, others may be arrested

Findings by www.societynowng.com revealed that there are strong indications that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s investigation into allegations of fraud lent activities against ex governor’s, Gbenga Daniel and Adebayo Akala while in office may throw up more arrests in a couple of days.

The Ex Governors were arrested in Oyo and Lagos respectively on Thursday October 06 2011.

They were taken to the EFCC head office in Abuja, questioned and detained as part of on going investigation.

Sources divulged that the upcoming arrests would focus on people tagged accomplices in the charges against the former governors of Ogun and Oyo states.

Insiders revealed the dragnet is targeted at individuals that play pivotal roles in the mess currently engulfing the former states head men.

Glimpse by informants into the preliminary investigations by the anti graft commission have identified some of the targeted figures.

In the case of the alleged mess in Ogun state- the E.F.C.C is said to be focusing on the two major players- Kola Onadipe and Kehinde Sogunle.

Onadipe is a well known trusted friend and confidante of the detained former governor. He is believed to have an input in a large percent of ‘actions’ carried out by Otunba Daniels while in office. Aside this a N1B diversion in part of the grand N58B corruption change falls directly under Onadipe’s purview. He was commissioner for water resources. Another target is tagged Kehinde Sogunle. He was commissioner for finance- a position that placed him at the heart of the web of the financial collusion. Also listed is the head of lands bureau and two others.

The Oyo state scenario is said to attract more targets. Topping the list is said to be Mr Femi Babalola, bossom friend of the incarcerated governor and the man in charge of special projects in the former administration. The owner of popular event center in Ibadan, Jogor is said alleged to have all is pies in contracts given out by the Adebayo Alao Administration. Informants tagged him the unofficial ‘the eyes, ears and hands’ of the former governor while in office. Also in the list is Alhaji Tunde Ologburo- socialite and suddenly big time government contractor courtesy of the detained governor. He is identified as only dwarfed by the influence of Babalola. Demola Ojo is also cited as attracting the interest of the E.F.C.C.

The former local government chairman is tagged one of the former governor’s alleged business fronts and fingers in duplication of contracts. Sources claimed that he keenly oversees the detained former governor’s interest in the hospitality industry.

Also included are Rasaq Bello and Kazeem Malada. They are part of the nucleus of trusted friends and associates former governor Akala did business with in the name of the state.

Sources divulged that with the arrest of their principals- the affected individuals have initiated panicky moves to cover their tracks- with unconfirmed reports claiming some had opened negotiation with the E.F.C.C to evade prosecution.
