Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has effected a minor cabinet reshuffle, relieving several top political appointees of their duties in a move aimed at creating opportunities for more party members and injecting fresh energy into his administration.

Those affected by the exercise include all Special Advisers, Advisers, Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants. The reshuffle also affects the Deputy Chief of Staff and the Principal Private Secretary to the Governor.

The decision was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mashood AbdulRafiu Agboola.

According to the statement, the changes are part of efforts by the administration to broaden participation in government and strengthen the delivery of its programmes and policies.

“The decision, which is meant to extend opportunities to more party members and inject fresh energy into the administration, also affected the Deputy Chief of Staff; and the Principal Private Secretary to the Governor,” the statement said.

Governor AbdulRazaq, however, commended the affected appointees for their contributions to the growth and development of the state, describing their service as invaluable.

“His Excellency expresses his gratitude to all the appointees for their priceless service to the state. He wishes them the best in their future endeavours,” the statement added.

The governor further directed all affected officials to hand over government property in their custody to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.

The development is expected to pave the way for fresh appointments as the administration seeks to reinvigorate governance and accommodate more stakeholders within the ruling party structure.
