ABC Nwosu, Bishop Chukwuma In Public Fight At Mass For Ojukwu

There was an incident that tainted the requiem mass in honour of late Igbo leader- Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu on Wednesday February 29 2012- and would have marred the ceremony but for the quick intervention of Governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi.

Sources confirmed that former health minister and a key member of the burial committee, Professor Alphonsus Bosah Chukwurah Nwosu ( more widely known as ABC Nwosu) was engaged in a public fight with ‎​the Anglican Bishop of Owerri, Bishop Olisaemeka Chukwuma.

Witnesses confirmed that what was rapidly snowballing into a messy verbal spectacle was check mated by Governor Peter Obi.

But this was not before the assailants caused ‘a bit of a stir’ at the service held at ‎Holy Ghost Catholic Cathedral Enugu confirmed an informant.

Detailing the event that led to the happenstance- an insider revealed that, Bishop Olisaemeka Chukwuma was reportedly invited to be a part of the ceremony.
The Anglican Bishop was said to have attended with intentions of playing a ‘pivotal role’ at the Catholic Church.

Sources claimed on realising that he was been treated as just another guest as the ceremony progressed- Bishop Chukwuma reportedly approach Professor Nwosu who claimed ‘change in arrangement’ as the cause of the twist.

According to a source ‘Then the bishop got offended on the grounds of playing politics with his name and image and there was open confrontation’

Governor Peter Obi was said to have mediated in the ‘drama’.

Investigations revealed that aside this episode- the event also recorded another glaring characteristic.

The Emeka Ojukwu Jnr -the first son and wife of the late Ikemba of Nnewi was absent at the occasion.

Same for the host governor, Sullivan Chime.

The requiem mass was the only episode of the celebrated burial train that suffered the absence of such key participants.

Findings revealed that ‘being on the opposite’ of political divides as the root cause of the incident.

Governor Chime later attended the lying-in-state at the Michael Okpara Square, Enugu held on Thursday March 1 2012.

The other arm of the burial were executed according to plan.

The burial ceremony of the late Igbo leader started on Monday, February 27 and lasted for all of 7days. He was buried on Friday, March 2.
