Ex NTDC Boss, Otunba Segun Runsewe Set To Return To Government Circle

Information filtering in indicates, Ex Director General of Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), Otunba Segun Runsewe is on his way back to government circle.

The celebrated tourism promoter was removed from office in what is best described as ‘unexpected circumstances’.

His ouster from office was due to the machinations of politics- with Minister for culture and tourism, Edem Duke fingered as architect.

Runsewe had battle him at every turn on the excuse of preventing the NTDC from being turned into just another agency on paper.

The former D.G had taken giant steps with the agency and transformed it into a vibrant reference point home and abroad- with this and that project and event.

The NTDC had fallen into oblivion since he was outwitted. His successor, Sally Mbanefo appear yet to come to terms with the job at hand, with invitations from anti graft agency Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (E.F.C.C) and related controversies compounding attempts to.

Insiders revealed Otunba Runsewe was ‘advised’ to lay low and not fight his ‘removal’, so that the ‘inadequacies’ of the fostered and new regime will not be blamed on him.

According to an insider ‘Otunba was told to let things be and let the world judge his tenure and the new regime based on their performances…and am sure the difference is obvious for all to see’

A related reason is for the angst of Minister Duke to wash over after succeeding in his quest.

Further digs revealed in maintaining a low profile, the former D.G and his sympathisers have not been idle.

They are said to have quietly laid a rooted ground work for his return to government circle- but not back to his former position.

Maintained an insider ‘ am not sure what the possible portfolio is, but am sure based on his performance at NTDC and previously held post- a worthy position is being lined up’.

Insiders further revealed part of the set back delaying the appointment is the current tension in government- with roots in insecurity.

Since he left office, Otunba Runsewe has stayed totally off the radar. He had shunned public engagements and went as far as screening his calls to stick to advice. But from the look of things, all that appear about to change with his looming appointment.
