…as disarrayed opponents leave alternative seeking voters no clear hero

Re election seeking Governor of Ogun state, Ibikunle Amosun faces a barrage of crises.

But in the face of all his challenges, including a mega alliance by all his political adversaries – he is posited on the edge of victory in the upcoming gubernatorial election in the state.

Investigations by societynowng.com attributes this development to the ‘spoiler’ role played Kashamu Buruji, the politician wanted in the United States of America for drug charges and Senatorial candidate on the platform of People’s Democratic Party, the political party in charge of the Federal Government.

Buruji’s political antics had shredded the accord that held the mega alliance against Governor Amosun and left voters seeking a replacement with no clear cut hero.

‘what this means is that the bulk vote that would have produced a governor from a unified and virile opposition, complemented with a bandwagon effect from citizens against the incumbent is now fragmented as individual political party try to do it alone ’.

More investigations by societynowng.com unearth the circumstances that played happenings within the opposition alliance into an advantage about hand victory to Mr Amosun.

According to an insider ‘ the whole arrangement collapsed with the manner the PDP gubernatorial primary was held and Gboyega Isiaka emerged candidate’.

Information made available to societynowng.com revealed that indeed the Primary that produced the PDP candidate was staged – and contrary to agreement with all stakeholders.

But Buruji the architect of the whole affair had the scripted the whole development for the law to favour his move.

Inside information revealed the Senatorial candidate simple ambushed other stake holders with did a gubernatorial primary election that produced his candidate as winner and immediately dispatched the result to the Independent National Electoral Commission attached with a court injunction that gave his camp powers of administration over party structure in the state.

‘what he did was, he initially secured a court injunction restraining Otunba Gbenga Daniel and others from interfering with the actions of the party executives he installed when the former governor and his followers returned to the PDP fold, he did this based on allegations the party was about to hijacked…it was this injunction he attached to result of the guber primary that produced Gboyega Isiaka’ a source disclosed.

Further digs revealed this development came on the heels of a meeting by key party leaders in the state, including Kashamu Buruji, Jubril Martins Kuye, Gbenga Daniel, Dimeji Bankole and others with President Goodluck Jonathan and PDP Chairman Adamu Mu’azu.

The agreement at the meeting was that an all inclusive list of elective posts contestants that caters for the interests of all be drawn up – and submitted to INEC.

Kashamu Buruji

The aim was to ensure total committed by stake holders in the drive towards a concerted efforts at beating the incumbent at the polls.

This attempt is against the backdrop of finetuning arrangement with other Political Parties, such as Labour and Social Democratic Party (SDP) towards achieving the same objectives, also ensuring President Jonathan secure victory in the state in bid to retain his seat.

The fast play by the fugitive left the PDP and the alliance with no consensus candidate to work for.

‘Kashamu agreed to the deal and played along, he told them with agreement reached his earlier plans to hold a gubernatorial primaries was cancelled…and the party’s scribe was directed to issue a statement to that effect, only for Kashamu to go ahead with his plans and effect a speedy submission of winners list to INEC…he simply lulled them into false sense of security to achieve his aim’.

And in doing that shredded attempt at concerted efforts to shove out the opponent from position of power, because the list of candidates he submitted contained only those loyal to him.

‘He sidelined all other power brokers, those more influential than him in the politics of the state including arrow heads of negotiation of a working arrangement with other opposition parties!’ an insider disclosed.

Information revealed to reverse this would have involved protracted litigation which the PDP can afford at this point in time.

‘ the major stroke that favoured Amosun is that with his action, he produced a candidate from a minority area who was second choice from his region’ another insider disclosed.

Findings revealed in the bid to achieve a representation of all interests, Gboyega Isiaka was second choice in the lists of representatives sent for picking by people of his region. Abiodun Akinlade was the first choice.

The people of his area currently agitate to produce the next Governor of the state.

Digs by societynowng.com revealed even in the face of this option, the recommendation was that the PDP needs a governorship candidate from ‘Egba’, the same majority area as the man they are keen to defeat, Ibikunle Amosun to have a strong chance at success.

It is believed the people of the area with massive votes at their disposal are keen to retain the Governorship position in the area in other to complete a spell of two terms before it swings to another region.

This was the equation that provided leverage for former Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole to grapple for the position.

He is from the same area as Amosun and enjoys the backing of the Martins Kuye faction – alongside the following of father, Alani Bankole.

‘choosing a candidate from the region would have provided the chance for sympathisers in the area to canvass support for the PDP using an alternative from the same area to fragment Amosun’s support base….especially when the incumbent choose a deputy from another majority sector, Ijebu’ a source analysed.

‘but using a second choice that comes from a minority has kept Amosun’s support base intact…with the chance to pilfer from his opponent’s strong hold’ yet another analysed.

Findings revealed, the opposition would have had a fighting chance but for continued alienation of other stakeholders by Kashamu in bid to retain control of party structure.

‘after achieving his aim, he refuses to embrace the other parties…particularly bridge builder and former governor Gbenga Daniel’ an insider divulged.

Investigations by societynowng.com revealed Daniel as ears and face of President Gooduck Jonathan in the state, and major voice in the PDP decision’s in the southwest.

Further findings revealed the initial plot was to utilise his embedded and interwoven political, social and economic contacts and clout to make the opposition a foreboding and dwarfing alliance for Mr Amosun.

But Kashamu’s antics – and continuous actions appeared to have put paid to that ploy it is revealed.

For reasons that defy the logic of possible political gains, Gboyega Isiaka the politician who came to relevance as a protégé of former Governor Daniel and now flag bearer of the PDP courtesy of the machination of fugitive Buruji and other candidates are said to be towing the same line that puts their chances at risks.

Meanwhile, said to be aware of this development, Governor Amosun is said to have stepped up his campaign at wooing electorates – and courting disenchanted members of the opposition to his side

However according to a source ‘the only thing the mega alliance have working for them now is that, they all agree to still work for the re election of President Goodluck Jonathan’.

‘But the issue of attempting to wrest power from Governor Amosun remains at best a fallacy, if situation on ground is not redressed and all alienated structures brought together and unified as one’ the insider added.
