2027: No More Rally-Hopping!…APC Orders Ministers, Party Leaders To Campaign In Home States
aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilisation and ensuring effective coordination
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has directed ministers, political appointees and members of its campaign council to restrict their participation in the party’s 2027 presidential campaign rallies to their respective home states.
The directive, contained in a circular dated November 3, 2026, and signed by the Director-General of the 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, is aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilisation and ensuring effective coordination of campaign activities.
The circular, addressed to all directors and heads of directorates, also directed members of the APC National Working Committee (NWC), with some exceptions, to concentrate on party responsibilities and mobilisation in their respective states and geopolitical zones.
According to the circular, ministers and other political appointees are required to attend only rallies held in their home states.
“They are required to focus on grassroots mobilisation across their polling units, wards and Local Government Areas (LGAs), in line with the pyramid concept of the campaign plan,” the document stated.
Similarly, members of the Presidential Campaign Council were directed to attend only rallies organised in their home states while concentrating on implementing their directorates’ approved work plans.
The circular specifically exempted the National Chairman, National Secretary, National Women’s Leader, National Youth Leader and National Organising Secretary from the restriction placed on other NWC members.
It stated that the remaining NWC members were expected to attend rallies in their home states while focusing on mobilisation within their respective political territories.
The campaign council also directed that greater visibility be given to APC candidates contesting elections into state assemblies, the House of Representatives and the Senate during campaign rallies.
Explaining the rationale behind the guidelines, Yari said the rallies were designed to energise the party’s grassroots base and communicate President Bola Tinubu’s achievements to the electorate.
“Participation should therefore be organised in a manner that advances these objectives,” he stated.
Directors were consequently instructed to ensure strict compliance with the guidelines across their respective directorates.
